Dear Students, Family Members, Colleagues and Visitors,

Thank you for taking a moment to browse through my online portfolio and class web pages. I truly appreciate your interest and hope that you find some helpful links and information in the pages that follow. You will find a number of links that contain classroom and curriculum related materials as well as some professional and personal background information. I encourage you to look through all the various links to learn more about my appreciation and passion for literature, learning, and language.

Originally from Michigan, I completed a teacher education program at Western Michigan University where I majored in English and education and minored in communication studies and political science. Shortly after graduating, I moved to the great state of Pennsylvania where I continued to pursue my educational interests at Chatham College. I completed my masters thesis and earned my Master of Liberal Arts from Chatham in December of 2003.

In addition to working with students in the high school setting, I have four years of experience working with students at a small, liberal arts college and at larger universities. At both types of institutions, I had the opportunity to interact with students on a variety of levels. I grew personally and professionally working with students from various cultural, social, and experiential backgrounds. I had the joy of working with international students as well as traditional college students. These experiences helped me to develop both the understanding and skills necessary for working with diverse student populations and needs.

Currently I hold a Pennsylvania Instructional II Professional Certificate to teach English for grades 7-12 and have been teaching high school English in the Haverford School District for the past five years. In addition to getting to know students in the classroom setting, I also sponsor a number of extracurricular activities. Over the past few years, I have worked with students through the Speech and Debate team, Writers Guild, and the Gay-Straight Alliance. I am truly looking forward to my sixth year with the students, staff, and family members of Haverford High School. Should you have any questions or concerns as you peruse through the following pages, please do not hesitate to contact me at the high school or by email at ward@havsd.net.

Thank you for your interest!

Warmest Wishes,

Jennifer A. Ward
